Tee McLeod Rocking Into His 3rd Straight CFR

Updated: Sep 30

Tee McLeod hooks one aboard his 2024 Horse of the Year, 'RB'

Waldeck Saskatchewan's Tee McLeod took the 2024 CPRA season by storm on the way to his 3rd straight Canadian Finals Rodeo qualification. McLeod racked up $29,800 over the course of the 2024 season to enter Edmonton as the 3rd ranked header in the standings, with a serious shot at a Canadian title. Roping for the majority of the season with Sid Sporer, McLeod also ventured south of the border to the PRCA rodeos where he accumulated $75,584 in earnings to currently sit 28th in the world on the head side. We have seen McLeod deliver electric performances on some of the biggest stages in rodeo already and next week in Edmonton should be no different as he battles for his 1st Canadian title.

Question: How was your summer/season roping with Sid?

Answer: It was good, we had a couple of hot and cold spells but overall it was pretty good. He's super easy to travel with. He kind of does all the planning, I'm just along for the ride.

Question: That run in Mandan sure looked good, how was that?

Answer: Yeah that one was a good one to end the year on, that was our last rodeo of the summer.

Question: Are you and Sid going together for the Winter Rodeos?

Answer: Yeah that's the plan as of now. We should get into everything now.

Question: Tell me a little bit about your Horse of the Year 'RB'

Answer: He's an 8 year old that I bought 2 years ago from Travis Nicholson, he's been pretty damn good ever since I bought him. I don't jackpot on him, I've honestly never ran a steer at a jackpot on that horse. I tried him at a night rodeo and then I bought him the next day. I practiced on him for about a week or two after I bought him and then have pretty much just rodeoed on him ever since. I call him 'RB', Root Beer. He's an own son of Nickster.

Question: What head rope do you use?

Answer: Soft or Medium Soft Powerline Lite

Question: What's your favorite rodeo in Canada?

Answer: Man it's hard to beat Ponoka but the CFR tops it I think.

Question: Who's been the biggest influence on your roping career?

Answer: It would definitely be my dad growing up. Then kind of through college and stuff, I went to college with Tyce and ever since we have picked each other's brains back and forth. Obviously I had help from a lot of different guys here and there but I just try to take bits and pieces from everybody and put it into my style.

Question: What's the biggest thing you learned going across the line to some of them bigger rodeos?

Answer: Every steer matters and it doesn't matter what rodeo you're at, you have to do your job or you don't win.

Question: If you could ride anybody else's head horse, which would it be?

Answer: That's a tough one. I do really like Kash Bonnett's bay. There's getting to be so many good ones now, nobody made the Finals without a decent one so I think any horse at the Finals would be worth riding.

Question: Who else are you excited to watch in Edmonton?

Answer: Honestly I don't really watch anybody at the rodeos before me, I just go watch the start one or two times and do my own deal.
