The Team Ropers brought the HEAT in Round 3 and what a treat it was to watch it. If you didn’t get a chance to watch it, here’s how it went:
Round 2 Champs, Grady Quam & Brady Chappel got the Round 3 party started with a wicked 4.8 to kick off the round.
They were immediately followed by Dustin Bird & Tyce McLeod, who went 4.2 to take the lead with a classic D Bird Hook and a Tyce McLeod heel shot up and around the guts.
Drake & Ross followed them up 2 teams later with a spectacular 3.9 second run to set the new pace. The pair would hold on for 1st, cashing in $11,100 each to sit #1 going into Championship Saturday.
Kash Bonnett & Logan Spady come up with 1 leg to miss out on the day money, but stay solid in the average. In fact, they currently lead the average with a 20.8 on 3 steers.
Trey Gallais & Jeremy Buhler went 5.0, which they would finish 5th on the night with.
Levi Schmidt & Braden Brost smoked one in 3.5 but had 10 seconds tacked on for a barrier.
Kolton Schmidt & Landen Glenn also caught a barrier, but remain good in the average. They sit 2nd with a 25.3 on 3 steers.
McFadden & Flewelling went 5.6, too long for round money but what a heel shot by Tyrel 😮💨
Levi Simpson & Logan Cullen capped off the night with an impressive 4.4 on a tough steer to finish 3rd. That was the heel shot of the night to me.
We caught back up with our panel to recap the Round 3 action and discuss what’s to come as we head into Round 4 this morning.
Tate Schmidt & Kagen Schmidt:
Question: What was your biggest take away from last night? What'd you see?
Tate: I thought the roping was amazing. Quam set the pace and everyone else followed, it was an awesome performance to watch!! Fastest run of the week, Kavis is just unreal!! Denim heeled that one so fast! There were so many steers turned fast!!
Kagen: That was some great watching, Kavis and Denim are rank, that was a stud run, Dbird and Tyce that was a great run too, there was a a lot of great runs tonight, too bad Levi got the barrier that 3.5 was bad ass, I can’t believe the ticking of horns that’s going on it’s kinda crazy, Braden to hit the steers back and still heel one to be 3 is something else.
Tate: I think Tee and Sid get the win. Tee has done outstanding this week, they were gonna be so fast last night, they win Round 4 with a 4.3.
Kagen: I think after the barrier with Kolton, he and Landon are gonna bounce back and win the round. But, if I can pick another one, which I know we’re only supposed to pick one, I’m going with Kavis and Denim, it’s hard to go against them guys with the roll that they are on right now.
Travis Speer:
Question: What was your biggest take away from last night? What'd you see?
Travis: Great round of team roping from the guys! Logan, denim, Tyce and Brady all pulled off some great heel shots!
Travis: I’m gonna go with Tee and Sid for the win in round 4 with a 4.4.
Brett Buss:
Question: What was your biggest take away from last night? What'd you see?
Brett: Wow, what a round of team roping. Kavis and Denim are roping awesome and look like they’re enjoying every minute of it. D Bird and Tyce are tapped off now, look out for them in the next two rounds. I think Kash/ Spady and Kolton/Landen are roping smart. They going to keep making their runs.
Brett: After Tee and Sid went out of the average last night, they’re my pick for the go round this afternoon. Kavis and Denim will be right there again too, they aren’t going to let off the gas pedal one bit
Grady Branden:
Question: What was your biggest take away from last night? What'd you see?
Grady: The first 3 second run of the week. Kavis looks like he’s been there 15 times. He is in complete control and making it look easy. And Denim does what he does. Bird and Tyce connected and that was just a matter of time. Tyce did a great job getting the run stopped when he had her roped around the hips. There was a couple heifers in there that might be a little tricky to get by the next round. But a pretty nice set to rope. It’s been a pretty impressive heading clinic so far this week. Just wish we had more days of it. Kolton and Landon and Kash and Logan did a good job of staying in the average.
Grady: I don’t think you can keep Brady and Calgary off the board. I think we will see them take a lap around Roger’s place to the tune of 3.8.
Cowboi Cole:
Question: What was your biggest take away from last night? What'd you see?
Cole: My takeaway is there are some teams that haven’t drawn any blood yet and it’s do or die now being on the backside of the finals. I can’t imagine how stressful it is to be at the finals and not have won a cheque so I think there’ll be some hair let down and it’s going to be a tough, tough last two rounds. And anyone who needs round money to have a chance at the title will be stepping up to set the tone. Also how about Spady and Kash easing along for that average title.
Cole: My pick for the round is Dawson and Dillon, 3.7!
Around The Saddle Horn:
Round 4 Winner- Oh boy, I don’t know where to go with this one, there’s a lot of pressure after calling it last night. It’s really hard to bet against Kavis & Denim right now and man I’m pulling for them today. But it’s also really hard to bet against the Grahams, there’s no way Dawson misses that shot 3 times in a row and Dillon is gonna be hungry. Grahams go 4.1 to play spoiler in Round 4.
