Round 2 of the Maple Leaf Circuit Finals is here and we’ve got the Steer Report Covered thanks to our friends at Cowboy Insurance.
Round 1 was a little softer last night with only 3 clean catches but expect it to get tougher tonight with it being the 2nd run on these steers and the headers getting more familiar with the start.
Logan & Keely Bonnett: The Money 💰 Steer #250- This is the steer that Grady Quam & Brady Chappel went 5.1 on to win the 1st Round. Average minus on the speed and a money step to the left, Quam got a good start on him and made him look real good and when he come out of the switch, Chappel did what Chappel does. Could be a chance for the Bonnett’s to bounce back after last nights No Time.
Kavis Drake & Denim Ross: 206- This is the steer that Bonnett’s had in Round 1 and come up empty on. He started really good and looked pretty straight, I expect a really good run tonight on this steer, especially knowing what these 2 are capable of.
Grady Quam & Brady Chappel: 220- Trey Gallais & Logan Cullen went 6.7 on this steer last night for 3rd. Average on the speed, money step to the left and really opened up for Cullen to set him down. This will be a good chance tonight for Quam & Chappel to double down and go 2 for 2.
Kolton Schmidt & Tyrel Flewelling: 226- This is the steer Derrick Hadland & Jackson Braithwaite went 4.6 on but broke the barrier. Super great steer, left good and opened up to heel. If these 2 can get out clean at the line tonight on him, which they will, they’ll have a real good chance at some round money tonight.
Tee & Tyce McLeod: 208- This is the steer Levi Simpson & Riley Wakefield ran, started good, stronger & straight. It looked like Simpson was late at the barrier last night, if Tee gets a good go at him tonight it could be a good sharp run. A sharper steer but when you get a guy with Tee’s range on the head side, it shouldn’t effect their chances.
Derrick Hadland & Jackson Braithwaite: 235- Tate & Kagen went 6.1 on this steer last night for 2nd, they made it look easy on a little stronger steer. Tate did a good job setting up the run and Kagen absolutely heeled em. Definitely a chance for some money tonight for Hadland & Braithwaite.
Levi Simpson & Riley Wakefield: 248- Kash Bonnett & Logan Spady had this one last night and took a no time. A stronger steer that faded left, Kash pulled out a BIG HOOK on him but he just didn’t set up as clean as some of the other steers. A good roll on this steer tonight and these guys will have a chance.
Trey Gallais & Logan Cullen: 219- Kolton & Tyrel run this steer last night and went 5.5 +5. Good steer that started straight with his head up high before fading left a step. Definitely going to be a run to watch out for tonight, a similar steer to last night’s but these 2 will be more comfortable and should really set one down.
Tate & Kagen Schmidt: 210- Tee & Tyce McLeod’s from Round #1, stronger and left. The Schmidt boys looked real good last night and we know what they’re capable of, don’t count em out tonight.
Kash Bonnett & Logan Spady: 231- Kavis & Denim’s from night 1 that they maxed out the penalties on. Stronger and a little left but nothing impossible for a pair with that much range.
