Quam & Chappel Take Round 2

Grady Quam & Brady Chappel take Round 2 of the CFR with a 4.7
"I actually had that steer in Strathmore and he was strong and left there and honestly, when I watched the video on him, it's hard to get real excited about a strong one that goes left. But I got a good start last night and it worked out I guess." Quam recalled of his 4.7 second run to take Round 2 of the Canadian Finals Rodeo last night. "After I missed the first one, it dang sure felt good to bounce back like that. We gave ourselves a chance and that's all a guy wants is a chance".

Chappel added, "We didn't really love the story on that steer, Grady ran him in Strathmore and he hauled on it. He took a step to the left and was pretty strong. When we run him down yesterday, that sucker was moving and Grady said he was going at the bang of the gate. He just got a great start and did a great job. It felt great, I didn't really think we would hang on for first with all those guys to go behind us, but we did. It all worked out".

The recently paired duo, who unfortunately took a no time in Round 1 with a bad head catch, would cash in $11,100 for their go round efforts last night to move Quam up 4 spots into #2 on the head side and Chappel 4 spots up to #5 on the heel side. And of course, the winnings will help more than just in the standings, "That dang sure helps out a little, I definitely didn't have anywhere near that kind of money in my bank account before I nodded my head", Quam laughed.

As for the new venue, both Quam and Chappel emphasized the electricity and atmosphere in Rogers Place. "It's great in there, it's awesome. There's lots of room. Obviously the building as a whole is pretty darn cool with the way it's set up and then on the arena floor, it's perfect, there's lots of room to the left for us. If the steer runs straight, you can get finished before the fence. It's awesome" noted Chappel. "Rogers feels sweet, it's pretty electric in there", added Quam.

The duo's gameplan is pretty simple, don't fix it if it ain't broken, "We'll go at the rest of em I would think. It almost works against a guy to try and safety up. Not that being a 4 second run is easy by any means but a 6 second run can almost be just as tough with the end fence or side fence coming up quick" said Chappel, "I guarantee everybody from here on out is taking their first throw, it's gonna get good. We're about to see some 3 second runs I would think."
