The 2024 Maple Leaf Circuit Finals (MLCF) kicks off tonight in Regina as a part of Canadian Western Agribition, marking the first stop of the 2025 CPRA Season. The MLCF can be critical to the start of a contestant's season, with the money won this week in Regina counting towards both the 2025 CPRA & PRCA Standings. There is also coveted spots at the NFR Open up for grabs this week, which can be a huge factor for a contestant vying for a spot at the 2025 National Finals Rodeo.
There will be 4 action packed performances in the Brandt Centre this week, starting tonight and wrapping up on Saturday Night. These performances will feature the top 10 earning headers & heelers from the 2024 Circuit rodeos.
The Ten Teams competing in Regina will be:
-Logan & Keely Bonnett
-Trey Gallais & Logan Cullen
-Derek Hadland & Jackson Braithwaite
-Levi Simpson & Riley Wakefield
-Tate & Kagen Schmidt
-Grady Quam & Brady Chappel
-Kash Bonnett & Logan Spady
-Kolton Schmidt & Tyrel Flewelling
-Tee McLeod & Tyce McLeod
-Kavis Drake & Denim Ross
Headlining the 10 teams is last year's MLCF Champs, 2024 Canadian Champion Header, Kavis Drake and his hot dog Heeler, Denim Ross. We seen what these 2 are capable of in Regina last year, when they won the average, the finals and pocketed nearly $5,800 each to set up their 2024 seasons. Coming off a CFR where they won 3/5 go-rounds and more money than any other team that week, as well as placing at multiple PRCA Rodeos over the past 2 months, there is no doubt that Drake & Ross are going to be ready to set Regina on fire once again.
Other teams that have some momentum coming into Regina include Kash Bonnett & Logan Spady who are fresh off of their 2024 CFR Aggregate Title, and Grady Quam & Brady Chappel, who picked up a round win back in Edmonton in October.
Kolton Schmidt & Tyrel Flewelling are teaming back up this week in Regina. While it has been some time since we've seen them rodeo together, there is no doubt that this throwback team of 2013 Canadian Champions will be fun watching.
Canadian record holders, Tate & Kagen Schmidt will once again be bringing the speed to the Brandt Centre in 2024, the same arena that they made their record breaking run of 3.3 seconds just 2 years ago.
Other brother teams include long time partners Logan & Keely Bonnett of Ponoka, Alberta and Waldeck, Saskatchewan's Tee & Tyce McLeod, who we will get to see compete together as a team for the first time in a while.
Derrick Hadland & Jackson Braithwaite are one of my teams to watch as they look to add some money to their names early for the 2025 CPRA season after narrowly missing out on the 2024 CFR.
There are also some new pairings that have surfaced this week in Regina. Trey Gallais & Logan Cullen are teaming up and should be nothing short of exciting while 4x Canadian Champion & 1x World Champion, Levi Simpson will be sticking for All-Around hand, Riley Wakefield.
It should be some great roping in Regina, stay tuned for all of the highlights right here thanks to Rein Equine Marketing, The COBIT & Cowboy Insurance
