In 2024, over $528,332 was awarded at the Canadian Team Roping futurities, marking the richest year for Canadian rope horse futurities to date. This impressive payout was generated through 7 events across the country, providing team ropers and trainers with opportunities to showcase their young horses while competing for substantial payouts and prizes.
This year's lineup included established events such as the Fall Classic Rope Horse Futurity at Bonnett's Arena near Ponoka, AB, and the Manitoba Rope Horse Futurity in Brandon, MB. Additionally, several new futurities debuted this year, such as the Spring Showcase Futurity in Swift Current, SK, the Gold Rush Futurity held during the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton, AB, the Canadian Snaffle Bit Futurity in Ponoka, and the Velocity Ranch Futurity near Bergen, AB.
A key contributor to this year's large payouts is the added money from Canadian rope horse incentives such as the Breeders Elite Roping Incentive (BERI), which added $60,000 between the Fall Classic Rope Horse Futurity and the Manitoba Rope Horse Futurity. Royal Crown Canada also played an extra large factor in these payouts, hosting their own event in Claresholm, AB in May and contributing added money to a handful of other futurities throughout the year.
